Oversized

Wearing my size has long been my style staple- and, without a doubt, of most guys. It's classic, has stood the test of time, and shows how comfortable a man is in his own skin. Thus, "perfect fit" has become the default size embraced by the menswear (and womenswear) world in the recent years.

Though it remains at the top of the game, this decade saw a gradual shift from this fitted silhouette to something that is its complete antithesis. Oversized clothing has now emerged from its slumber in the late 80s, and has entered the game in an attempt to rock the status quo. And frankly, I'm loving it!! For example, a brand that easily comes to mind is H&M. C'mon, just take a look at it and observe how this longline trend is prevalent in their collection.

I don't know how it started in the menswear world, but it probably just followed the trail blazed by the womenswear industry with its crazy obsession with oversized garments and boyfriend shirts. Regardless, I think it's here to stay, thus I have decided to try it out.

What I'm Wearing: Sun Hat (21 Men), Denim Jacket (Guess), Button-down (Old Navy), Jeans (Zara),  Shoes (Dr. Martens)

In wearing this oversized jacket, I have decided to roll the sleeves up though it is not the only way to wear it. You may also wear it over your shoulders or in any other way that floats your boat. However, bear in mind that confidence is the most important accessory in sporting this style- probably even more confidence than what is required for any other style- for this look requires a lot of swag to pull it off. Also, remember not to oversize everything. Instead, keep at least one of your items (trousers, shirt, etc) fitted to create a contrast and a balance in the silhouette.
