Back to Black: How to Wear All Black
I have only one rule when it comes to styling myself- to look good regardless of the time and place. Thus, everyday becomes an ordeal when it comes to picking out the clothes to wear in going about my daily business. Indeed, looking stylish is hardwork, you guys. Yet, even I can't deny that there are times when I just feel too lazy, uninspired or just too busy to come up with and outfit. In such instances, it becomes important to have what I call a "safety outfit" or that outfit which you could just whip within a matter of seconds, and still be sure to look stylish as hell. To many people, their safety outfits could be outfits they've already worn before, and that's okay. I actually do that too but if I could avoid that, the better. Thus, I come up with different safety outfits, one of them is to wear all black.
What I'm Wearing: Sun Hat (21 Men), Leather Jacket (21 Men), Button-own (Kenneth Cole), Jeans (Zara), Shoes (Doc Martens)
The problem with all black, however, is that it becomes tricky to pull off without looking like a waiter, a bouncer, a goth or whatnot (unless you're one of them and that's cool too. This isn't to demean anyone but to guide others who doesn't want to be mistaken for something they're not in wearing all-black). But such problem can be easily solved with just one trick- playing with silhouettes. For example, instead of going all black cotton, add some depth by using different elements; two or three is enough, I think, but go ahead and use more if that floats your boat. But in this this outfit post, I have decided to use three: (1) leather for the jacket, (2) cotton for the button down, and (3) denim for the pants. Actually, i used four counting the sun hat, which is made of wool.
